COVID-19 Secure – What does this mean?

As we navigate the new year with new lockdown restrictions, we bring you our staying COVID-19 Secure in 2021 guide and details of how we have complied with the government’s guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19.

COVID-19 Secure confirms that Blue Star Commercial Gardens have put in place increased safety measures that respond to the coronavirus.

In this new environment, a review of all working practices has had to be undertaken to ensure all comply with current Government and Public Health England guidance.

BELOW ARE OUR FIVE STEPS TO SAFER WORKING

1. Blue Star has carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment and shared the results with our team who work here. We send a request for Red, Amber, and Green from each development before we visit (Red- confirmed case, Amber, suspected, Green – none). We either don’t attend or restrict access to developments in Red and Amber.

2. The team has cleaning, handwashing, and hygiene procedures in line with guidance, we have in place provision for additional handwashing and sanitisation.

We only have access to the buildings for toilets/washing facilities or through an area isolated from homeowners. Masks and gloves are worn.

3. Our team have taken all reasonable steps to help people work safely from a COVID-19 Secure workplace or work from home, where we are operating on-site, we will confirm all safety measures are in place with our clients and ourselves prior to our arrival. Disposable gloves and face masks are provided. Only the van driver is allowed to handle equipment without gloves, all others must wear gloves. Van cabs are washed down after anyone other than the driver is within and visors must be worn by passengers.

4. Our team continues to take all reasonable steps to maintain a 2m distance in the workplace and on-site. As we mainly work outside contact is minimal and mostly restricted to property managers.

5. Where our team cannot keep 2m apart we have ensured at least a 1m distance and taken all the mitigating actions possible to manage transmission risk. Our guidelines dictate that, if a homeowner comes too close, especially if they may not understand the risks involved, we will always move away from them, even if we have to leave the area and come back again later. We will always put our clients’ and homeowners’ health and safety first.

How do we check everyone is doing what they need to?

We have monitoring and auditing systems in place to check that our requirements are being undertaken both on and off-site.

Please report any concerns or good practice so we can improve our systems and processes by clicking the link below.
